The Orwells are back with a new album, and a couple new tracks. The latest is ‘North Ave.’ Unofortunately, it seems like The Orwells lost a little bit of the spunk and grit that made them so interesting on their debut. They seem to have swapped for a little bit of The Strokes/Arctic Monkeys slickness, which makes a bit of sense considering they toured all over North America with the latter. It still sounds cool, just a bit different. However, the close on this track is incredible-jamming notes ricocheting off each other like the Pinball Wizard got his hands on a Fender and learned how to form his mouth in an ‘o’ shape. Especially potent when accompanied by some awesome footage of people smashing lamps.
